THE SECOND DHAMMA SUKHA ONLINE RETREAT
24-Mar-06 - 31-Mar-06
brought to you by the Dhamma Sukha Meditation
Center and Bhante Vimalaramsi
GUIDELINES
1. You will be asked to agree to keep the BASIC precepts, link posted below,
but also please do not listen to music and refrain from
other entertainment (TV, RADIO, BOOKS, NEWSPAPERS, etc.) for the
duration of the retreat. Please put your
attention into the meditation for real. We realize you will probably keep
working and going to school and such and that’s fine. We can talk about how
to do the practice there as we go along. You will be learning engaged Buddhism
for real.
2. Download the instructions as linked in the PRE RETREAT section
below
3. Next, you listen to the instructions and begin doing your meditation. If
you have any questions before starting about how to sit or about your
"spiritual friend" to choose or anything you can ask in the
beginning.
4. You MUST agree to do the meditation for ½ hour minimum in the morning and
once at night before bed ( longer if you have time and are comfortable to do
it).
5. DO it once in the middle of the day too if you can do this, so you have
three sessions per day as we go along.
6. We need to hear from you all once a day, how you are doing in your
sessions. Keep it short and ask questions as we go along. For retreat correspondence,
core members should e-mail: bvretreat@yahoo.com,
others should address questions and comments to:
Dhammasukkha discussion group.
7. We will try to answer your questions and guide you along, But please
understand that those participants who signed up as core members will have
priority; our ability to respond to questions is limited by of max 45 kb phone line
internet connection.
8. Each night you will be asked to listen to a Dhamma talk online that Bhante
has done. This is the same as our retreats. YOU MUST ALL LISTEN TO THE SAME
TALK so we can discuss questions as we go along for that talk. If you sit in a
chair instead of cross-legged on a cushion, then please sit with your feet
flat on the floor, and do not cross your legs or arms.
9. There is also in the PRE RETREAT section a link to the instructions for
walking meditation . Don’t do overly slow walking with this practice. Do
natural walking. The article tells you why.
10. When available, talks are posted in several formats. We suggest that you download
the highest quality available unless you have a slow connection to the
internet. Note, when downloading the "high" quality mp3 files, it
may appear that nothing is happening for awhile while the download gets
started.
11. "Read out loud" below the audios means that a transcript is not
yet available, but the Read Out Loud version of the suttas is available and
may help you to follow the talk.
