MN#20 19-Feb-06 The
Removal of Distracting
Thought
|

(1:35:04)
This talk was given at
Joshua Tree, Ca, Feb.
2006
When you meditate you
will have distracting
thoughts. This is where
the 6 r’s practice
originated. When your
attention on your
meditation object is
distracted by an
unwholesome state, you
must recognize it,
release and let it be,
relax any residual
tension or tightness,
re-smile and return to a
wholesome object (your
object of meditation)
and repeat it. Let go of
all tension and
tightness in your body,
especially in your head.
Discussed:
- The differences
between what the Buddha
taught and other styles
of meditation: Vipassana
vs. Samatha
(Jhanas)-Vipassana.
- The relaxing step
discussed in this talk
is the key to successful
meditation practice.
- A basis in the
Precepts, Generosity
helps your meditation.
- What is Dependent
Origination? What is
Nibbana?
- Westerners need to
relax and vs. their
Asian counterparts.
Smile!
