Here you can find various audio talks that have been given by Bhante Vimalaramsi. Most of the
Dhamma talks follow a sutta from the Mahjjima Nikaya and last about 70
to 90 minutes. Not every web browser starts playing the audio talks
immediately. If the talk does not start to play immediately you will have to
wait until the entire talk has been downloaded. The files in the wma format give the best compression ratio.
We are putting up mp3, and
high quality wma files of the talks. The files in the wma format give a
better compression ratio with some loss of sound quality.
Please feel free to distribute these talks.
This audio tape gives you the directions for the Loving Kindness
Meditation and how you can carry this loving feeling with you during
everything you do. This is an actual reading of the companion booklet
called: "A Practical, Bare-Bones Guide to Loving-Kindness Meditation" by Bhante Vimalaramsi
and is found at:
Barebone
Instruction Booklets
:
Loving Kindness (Metta) Meditation
Instructions.
We learn to bring Loving Kindness to ourselves, to one spiritual friend, and then eventually, after strong development in practice for a period of time growing the feeling in our heart, we will learn to send it out to others in the world in many different ways. This was recorded by Khema at the Dhamma Sukha Meditation Center in May of 2003.
You can also download the instructions as given by Bhante Vimalaramsi himself. The instructions are the same, but do not follow the booklet and are only 10 minutes.

MN#2 - All the Taints - Sabbāsava Sutta
The Buddha is talking about seven ways for the student of meditation to reach
the destruction of the taints. You can find the directive here about what to place
your attention on and what to let go of. It supports the instruction of releasing
an arisen taint and tranquilizing the mind and body, then continuing to place attention onto a wholesome object of
meditation. It presents the seven factors of enlightenment for the student to develop in order to reach the destruction of the taints.

MN#10 - The Four Foundations of Mindfulness - Satipaṭṭhāna Sutta
This is one of the fullest and most important suttas by the Buddha dealing with meditation, with particular emphasis on the development of insight. The Buddha begins by declaring the four foundations of mindfulness to be the direct path for the
realization of Nibbana, then gives detailed instructions on the four foundations: the contemplation of the body, feelings, mind, and mind-objects.

MN#39 - The Longer Discourse in Assapura - Mahā-Assapura Sutta
This sutta covers "the things that make one a
recluse". It describes four areas of life that support the
student for successful meditation. They are about conduct,
guarding sense doors, moderation in eating and wakefulness. All
of these are considered to be good practice.
